Taylor Patterson Quiz Night Raises £730
A CHARITY quiz evening attended by businesses from Preston city centre raised a grand total of £730 for two local charities.
The event, hosted and organised by Preston-based financial advisory firm Taylor Patterson, was held to raise funds for
Derian House Children’s Hospice, Chorley, and Heartbeat North West Cardiac Centre.
Around 150 people from businesses in the area attended the event on Thursday night at Forum, Winckley Street,
taking part in a quiz, raffle and charity auction which saw a signed Preston North End Shirt raise almost £100.
The winning team was from law firm Napthens Solicitors, and was presented with a prize of £100.
Gillian Bardin, managing director of Taylor Patterson, said: “The event was very well attended and we would like to thank
everyone who took time out to support these wonderful charities.
“It just shows what can be done when the business community comes together in a common cause, and I am sure the next
event we hold will raise even more!”

Trio of Charity Fundraising
During the month of April the Charity Fundraising Team have been busy organising activities to raise money for our nominated charities as follows:
- Eggstra, Eggstra, read all about it...
The Charity Fundraising Team planned an Easter Eggstravaganza to raise funds for Derian House and Heartbeat.
The Directors and Department Managers kindly agreed to donate Easter Eggs which were used as prizes in the Easter Raffle with a chance to win an extra special LARGE Easter Egg.
- Greg's Marathon Run
Greg O'Brien, Account Executive in the Investment Department, successfully completed the London Marathon in 3 hours 51 minutes.
This was Greg's second full marathon, having ran the Anglesey Marathon in September 2006.
Greg was running in aid of local charity Heartbeat, which provides cardiac rehabilitation, education and research in the North West. The total amount raised so far is £300 with further donations still being received at the time of writing.
- Taylor Patterson's 2007 Charity Evening
The event held on 28th April 2007 at Ingol Golf Club was another enjoyable evening organised by Taylor Patterson's "Fundraising Team" in support of Derian House Children's Hospice and Heartbeat.
A number of tickets were sold for this event that included entertainment by local singer Matt Philips, hot pot supper and also a raffle and auction - all prizes being very kindly donated by insurance companies and local businesses.
Taylor Patterson's employees, friends and family kindly supported the evening and managed to raise a total of £1,141.25.
The Fundraising Team at Taylor Patterson would like to thank everyone who supported this worthwhile event.
Charity Quiz Challenge
During March Taylor Patterson entered the 2007 Napthens Charity Quiz Night in aid of Shelter.
The total amount raised for Shelter was £537, which was a fantastic effort.
The team; Martin Kay, Peter Duerden, Alexa Johnson, Karen Haynes and Fiona McGrail contributed their efforts to help
achieve such a good effort to be second out of eleven teams. The teams consisted of Accountants, Solicitors and
businesses in the Preston area. View pictures from the event, click here.
£5,000 Boost for Derian House
TAYLOR Patterson’s fundraising team has donated £5,000 to Derian House following 12 months of charity events organised by the firm. The independent financial advisers thrashed their original target of £2,500 through a series of events including monthly
dress down Fridays, charity runs, sending e-Christmas cards instead of posting cards to clients, a charity evening at Fulwood and Broughton Cricket Club and the insurance team donating £10 each in return for director Robert Cholmondeley making cups of tea!
They presented the £5,000 cheque to Bill Adams, Derian House’s volunteer fundraiser/support group member, who thanked the team for their efforts and said the money was essential as the Hospice only receives enough statutory funding to open for four days a year, the other 361 days have to be funded by donations. Kierson James, Taylor Patterson’s commercial insurance manager, announced the firm would be supporting two local charities in 2007. She said:
“We exceeded all of our expectations with the fundraising in 2006 and hope to do the same again this year and help two deserving charities. “We are continuing to support Derian House, as we feel the work they do for local families with terminally ill children is fantastic, but we will also be donating half of this year’s total to Heartbeat in Preston which helps people who have suffered a heart illness, heart attack, cardiac surgery or angina. “Plans are already underway for another charity evening in April which we hope will be as popular as it was last year, and
there will be many more activities taking place throughout the year.”
